● Check the working condition of falling ball testing machine.

● Selecting the representative casting balls. Choosing 28 pieces of Φ80mm casting balls（25 piece in the tube, 3 piece in outer circulation), Choosing 25 pieces of Φ90mm casting balls（22 piece in the tube, 3 piece in outer circulation), Choosing 23 pieces of Φ100mm casting balls（20 piece in the tube, 3 piece in outer circulation), Choosing 21 pieces of Φ110mm casting balls（18 piece in the tube, 3 piece in outer circulation), Choosing 19 pieces of Φ120mm casting balls（16 piece in the tube, 3 piece in outer circulation) as testing balls. What is more, each specification takes 3-5 casting balls as replacement grinding balls and marks them on the surface.

● Put the testing balls in the tube. Then starts the testing machine. Gradually put the three balls into the circulation transport system by lower chute.

● Open counter, counter zero, clear alarm, digital dial to a predetermined number.

 

● Invalidation benchmarks:

1) Breakage: The grinding ball is cracking along the middle.

2) Spalling: the peeling block with a diameter of about 20 to 50 mm on the surface of the grinding ball.

 

● The balls will not continue to roll if the balls breaks. The balls must take out from the machine. If the balls spalls, it should be judged according to the condition of chip removal under the tube and the surface condition of the ball. Stop the machine, take out the invalid balls and replace it with the ready replacement ball.

 

● Record the number of times when each grinding ball fails

 

● Determination of impact fatigue characteristics of grinding ball:

The failure ball index of grinding ball impact fatigue life is 3-4. The test can be completed when the failure ball reaches the target. The average drop times of the failure ball are converted to the average impact times according to the recommended formula of the usage instructions, that is, the impact fatigue characteristics of the grinding ball.
