A ball mill is a device for crushing materials.  Its characteristics are mainly reflected in large crushing ratio, simple structure, reliable work and so on.  Along with the production needs, a variety of different types of ball mills have emerged.  

According to different classification standards, the types of ball mills are as follows:  

First, according to the classification of ball mill ore discharge  

According to the way of ore discharge, the ball mill can be divided into two categories:  

One is the central row ball mill, such as overflow ball mill;  

One is the peripheral ore row ball mill, such as lattice ball mill.  

The structure of the two kinds of ball mills is basically the same, the difference lies in the overflow type ball mill cylinder without row grid.  Because of the different characteristics of ore discharge, the two kinds of ball mill is also used, each has advantages and disadvantages.  

Generally, overflow ball mill grinding fineness is fine, more suitable for material regrinding operations.  Compared with the overflow type ball mill, its performance and production capacity are outstanding, but its structure is slightly complex, and the particle size of its grinding products is larger than the overflow type ball mill, so it is more suitable for rough grinding operations of materials.  

Ii. Classification according to working mode  

According to the working mode, the ball mill can be divided into continuous ball mill and intermittent ball mill, as the name implies, the two different working mode determines its different working characteristics.  

Continuous ball mill: general concentrator and coal water slurry plant often use continuous ball mill;  

Intermittent ball mill: in the processing of ceramic raw materials glaze and other chemical products, due to the particularity of the material, the intermittent ball mill is used for grinding, intermittent ball mill can control the particle size of the material by adjusting the grinding time, but its grinding efficiency is not high, the operation is not very convenient.
