Medium and low chromium cast steel balls have poor wear resistance, high breakage rate, and are cheap in price, but they have higher wear and lower comprehensive price, so they are not recommended.  High chromium alloy cast steel ball, due to the addition of chromium element, has higher hardness, is a kind of high-quality wear-resistant material, cement, new building materials and other dry ball mills have been widely used.  

Generally speaking, the greater the hardness of the wear-resistant steel ball its wear resistance is better.  To improve the wear resistance of the steel ball, it is necessary to increase the hardness of the wear-resistant steel ball, but the increase of hardness will inevitably cause the reduction of the impact toughness of the wear-resistant steel ball, and the hardness of the steel ball also needs to take into account the hardness and material of the wear-resistant lining plate.  Therefore, how to combine the hardness and toughness of steel balls is the key to improve the wear resistance of cast steel balls.  For example, the solidification sequence and feeding conditions of high chromium alloy steel balls should be properly adjusted, so as to make the steel balls get dense inside and reduce the phenomenon of crystal coarser.  The heat treatment process determines the mechanical properties and carbide distribution.  In the composition of cast steel ball, there are quantitative chromium and alloy elements, how to make these alloy elements form hard carbide, so as to play a role, is also an important factor must be considered in the formulation of heat treatment process.  In short, reasonable production technology and strict quality control means are the prerequisite to determine the performance of the cast steel ball.
